AT&T will expand G.fast internet service to 22 markets, including Seattle and Portland – GeekWire

Northwest folks living in apartments or condominiums have a new high-speed internet option. AT&T announced today that it is expanding its G.fast internet service to 22 markets. The service is available now in Seattle and seven other metros; it will roll out later in Portland and an additional 13 cities. G.fast enables property owners to provide tenants with fast internet — up to 500 Mbps, which could increase over time — using existing coaxial cables, rather than deploying new fiber. It also provides access to AT&T-owned DIRECTV without a dish. FierceTelecom and MultiChannel have more details.
