Buffalo Bills: Free agent WR Anquan Boldin scheduled to visit

July 21 (UPI) — Three-time Pro Bowler Anquan Boldin is scheduled for a meeting next week with the Buffalo Bills.

Sources told ESPN that the 36-year-old free agent will meet with the franchise Monday in Buffalo.

Boldin is entering his 15th NFL season since being picked in the second round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He had 584 yards and eight scores on 67 receptions last season for the Detroit Lions. After spending his first seven seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, Boldin was traded to the Baltimore Ravens in 2010. He was traded again in 2013 to the San Francisco 49ers.

Boldin is third among active players in receptions (1,076) and receiving touchdowns (82). He is fourth among active players with 13,779 receiving yards.

In June, sources close to Boldin told the Detroit Free Press that he would “prefer” to play near Florida. Boldin grew up in Pahokee, Fla. before starring at Florida State in Tallahassee.

The Lions drafted receiver Kenny Golladay in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft and still have Golden Tate and Marvin Jones on their depth chart.

Buffalo spent a second-round draft selection on East Carolina wide receiver Zay Jones this year and have Sammy Watkins and Andre Holmes currently atop their depth chart at the position. Boldin would likely serve as a dependable second or third option for Tyrod Taylor. He would also be a nice depth piece if Watkins happens to get shelved with health issues like he has in previous seasons.

Boldin told the South Florida Sun Sentinel that he has talked with several teams about signing and had a visit set up Sunday with an undisclosed team.

Boldin told Arizona Sports 98.7 in June that he wanted to sign right before training camp.

Buffalo begins training camp Thursday at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford, N.Y.
