Radhakishan Damani-owned Avenue Supermarts, which runs a retail chain under the brand ‘DMart’, has now become over a $10-billion market cap company after gaining 5.9% on Monday.The stupendous run-up in its stock price -251% since listing -has taken the retailer ahead of major companies such as GAIL, Godrej Consumer Products, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, Tata Steel and Shree Cement.
It is now the 44th most valued company in the country. Market capitalisation of other majors such as HPCL, Nestle, Bosch and Motherson Sumi are just few percentage points ahead. With the company’s market capitalisation touching Rs 65,263 cr on Monday, Damani’s networth now stands at Rs 53,646 crore. His holding in the company at the end of June was 82.2%.
