ESU police looking for man who entered cars, stealing from one


A man entered unlocked cars in a parking lot at East Stroudsburg University on Thursday afternoon, taking items from one of them, university police said.

The suspect pretended to be talking on his cellphone as he entered the cars parked on Normal Street in East Stroudsburg. The suspect was in a navy blue BMW sedan, possibly a 2006 330xi, which he parked on Normal Street across from the University’s SciTech Building, police said.

The man walked up and down the sidewalk looking into cars, entering two of them and taking a bookbag from one, police said.

The thefts happened about 12:13 p.m. and the man fled about 12:23 p.m. He was last seen driving east on Normal Street.

The suspect is described as a light skinned black man, possibly in his late 30’s, 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-2 with a slender athletic build, police said. He was wearing a white suit, possibly with blue pin stripes, a white baseball hat, and white sneakers.
