The Atlanta Falcons lost to a good football team today. They didn’t do themselves any favors, turning the ball over and just generally failing to execute. But that said, the Buffalo Bills aren’t pushovers. The Falcons are now 3-1 headed into their bye week, which couldn’t come soon enough. Lately the Falcons have struggled to stay healthy, and it’s noticeably affecting how well this team plays. The injuries unfortunately kept coming today, so let’s break them down.
Julio Jones injured his hip during the first half. He wanted to stay in the game and was seen on the sideline pleading his case. Ultimately the coaches and training staff took a cautious approach, sending him to the locker room for treatment. He was initially deemed “questionable” but eventually ruled out. He didn’t play at all in the second half and apparently it’s a hip flexor. I’m not a doctor, however, Dr. Google informs me that hip flexors take 1-8 weeks to heal, depending on severity.
Mohamed Sanu injured his hamstring at some point during the first half. He similarly didn’t play at all in the second half.
Jack Crawford left the game with a biceps injury. According to Vaughn McClure’s source, he’s getting an MRI tomorrow and “it doesn’t look good.” I don’t like the sound of that.
Vic Beasley, Ryan Schraeder, Ricardo Allen, and Courtney Upshaw were all inactive today as well. That’s a lot of injured players. I’m going to go cry in a corner now.
