Locals are being urged to fill up if they spot cheap petrol within Geelong, with the price of unleaded soaring by more than 30 cents a litre in the last 24 hours.
Prices were selling for as low as $1.14 a litre, but most service stations from Geelong to Werribee have now pushed the price up to over $1.40.
Some are blaming the start of the school holidays, as well as AFL Grand Final week and the Royal Melbourne Show.
However experts believe it is part of the regular cycle fluctuation, and the prices should start to ease slowly over the weekend.
