The BSE Metal index was trading 1.06 per cent up at 13,430 around 10.30 am (IST), without any laggard.
Benchmark Sensex was 0.24 per cent up at 31,236, while Nifty was trading at 9,746, up 0.11 per cent, around the same time.
Buying in pharma, bank and auto stocks lifted market sentiment.
Among the gainers in Sensex index, Dr Reddy’s stood at the top, with gains of over 3 per cent. Sun Pharma, ITC, Maruti, Cipla and State Bank of India gained up to 1 per cent.
Asian paints, however, cracked over 3 per cent. HeroMotocorp, Bharti Airtel and Wipro were the other to drags of the Sensex index.
On the NSE, 1068 stocks were advancing, compared with 505 stocks declining and 386 stocks remaining unchanged.
On BSE, 1,351 stocks were advancing whereas 640 stocks were lagging and 119 stocks were appearing unchanged.
