JERSEY CITY — A 26-year-old Jersey City man who went on an apparent rampage is charged with choking and punching a woman, as well as punching numerous parked vehicle.
Nicholas Perez, of Lembeck Avenue, was arrested after the incident on Sunday and charged with simple assault, possession of marijuana, seven counts of criminal mischief and hindering apprehension by giving a false name to law enforcement, the criminal complaint says.
He is charged with punching the side view mirrors of seven cars, causing them to break and fall off. He also faces drug charges related to a bag of marijuana, the complaint says.
Perez made his first appearance on the charges on Monday in Criminal Justice Reform Court in Jersey City via video link from Hudson County jail in Kearny.
A court official said at the hearing there is also a warrant for his arrest for owing $16,000 in child support.
