Larne arson attack on cars and house

TWO cars have been destroyed and a house extensively damaged in an arson attack in Larne.

The attack took place at around 3.20am yesterday in the Magee Park area of the town, when two parked cars were set alight.

Police said that the silver Peugot 407 and white Audi A4 were destroyed by the fire and a house next to the cars was “extensively damaged”.

Detective Sergeant Crothers said enquiries were ongoing and urged anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact the PSNI.

Yesterday’s incident is just the latest in a number of arson attacks which have plagued Larne in recent months.

In June, police said they were investigating a link between two separate arson attacks in the Kylemore Gardens and Riverdale areas in which two cars were destroyed.

Last month, a petrol bomb was thrown through the window of a house on the Killyglen Road in the Craigyhill estate. No one was injured in the attack, however the front room of the house received scorch damage.

The same house had been the target of an attack just five months previously when a car was driven into the front of the semi-detached dwelling and set alight.
