Receipts: 1,348

Had 166 cows and 16 bulls. The packer market was $2 to $3 higher on the types and quality of packer cattle consigned. Very active market.

The calf market was $2 to $3 in spots. Overall demand was excellent just at lower levels. Some classes were holding at last week’s levels, particularly heavy weight steers.

Packer bulls: All weights, $72-$91

Packer cows: Canners and cutters, $51-$75; light and weak, $42-$50.

Palpated dry cows (13 bred cows): $105-$115; pairs (two, poor quality): $825 and $900.

Compared to last week: The market was lower this week. Better quality classes of calves sold from steady to $5 lower. Demand remains good but lower fat and futures markets applying pressure. Some of the No. 2 classes sold $4 to $8 lower.

Packer cows and bulls sold fully steady to $1 higher on about 225 head total.

Packer cows: Canner and cutter cows, $66-$77; utility and fat cows, $57-$71; light weight canner cows, $42-$57.

Packer bulls: Heavyweight bulls, $88-$94; utility and cutter bulls, $80-$88; light weight canner bulls, $75-$82.
