A DRIVER has allegedly clocked 120km/h as he tried to outrun police in residential streets south of Brisbane.
Officers tried to pull over a driver at Logan Central on Sunday afternoon after noticing the car had false numberplates.
But the driver allegedly did an illegal U-turn at an intersection, forcing other cars to swerve out of the way to avoid a crash.
It’s alleged the driver then did burnouts and caused plumes of smoke to cloud the road as the car sped off.
The driver hit another car and was recorded at speeds of up to 120km/h as he sped through residential areas before abandoning the vehicle at Eagleby, police allege.
A police helicopter tracked the vehicle as it continued through parts of Logan and dog squad officers arrested a man a short time later.
A 32-year-old is facing a long list of charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle while intoxicated, failing to stop, using false numberplates and drug possession.
He was due to face the Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.
