Market Now: BSE Consumer Durables hits all-time high

NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Consumer Durables index hit all-time high of 18,228 in Friday’s trade, extending the gains for the second straight session.

The index was trading 50 points, or 0.28 per cent up at 18,083 around 12.18 pm (IST), with shares of Nilkamal (up 4.09 per cent), PC Jeweller (up 1.02 per cent), Symphony (up 0.98 per cent), Bajaj Electricals (up 0.95 per cent), Whirlpool of India (up 0.90 per cent) and Blue Star (up 0.90 per cent) as the top gainers of the index.

TTK Prestige (down 0.62 per cent) and Rajesh Exports (down 0.26 per cent) were the two components in the index trading in the red.

Buying in capital goods, industrials and metal sectors held markets’ up amid mixed Asian cues.

However, benchmark Nifty and Sensex pared the gains of the early session after a fresh spell of selling emerged in bank, realty and pharma stocks.

Nifty Pharma index slipped over 1 per cent, with Dr Reddy’s and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals cracking up to 4 per cent.

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals hit a fresh 52-week low of 576 today.

Metal stocks continued their upbeat momentum, with Vedanta, Tata Steel, JSW Steel and Hindalco hitting fresh 52-week highs today.

Nifty50 was trading near 9,950-mark, while Sensex was firm above 31,700 level.

In the Nifty50 pack, 23 stocks were trading in the green, while 28 stocks were in red.

On BSE, 1,215 stocks were advancing whereas 1,180 stocks were lagging.
