As the Baltimore Ravens prepare for their regular season dress rehearsal in Week 3 of the preseason against the Buffalo Bills, they’ll get back perhaps the best player on the team. Baltimore’s All-Pro right guard Marshal Yanda will make his season debut after being inactive for the first two preseason games.
10 Ravens will not suit up against Bills — including Maxx Williams
Yanda split time during the 2016 regular season at left and right guard to take pressure off an injured shoulder. The Ravens have been playing it safe with Yanda after he had offseason surgery. Throughout training camp, Baltimore has been letting him go through individual drills, but holding him out of any real contact.
Yanda’s veteran presence helps create continuity as Baltimore has been using multiple offensive line combinations with several players missing significant time due to injury.
Left tackle Ronnie Stanley has missed practice, left guard Alex Lewis will miss the 2017 season with a shoulder injury of his own and rookie left guard Nico Siragusa is out for the season after tearing his ACL, MCL and PCL in training camp. Not to mention recently acquired right tackle Austin Howard his still trying to get into hang of things.
So for Yanda to return to action now is a fantastic sign for the offensive line. This will be the closest to the regular season lineup we’ve seen thus far.
