COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) — Police are investigating a shooting that happened Wednesday night, near Demorest Road. Several houses and three parked cars were shot up along Vida Court and Greenock Road.

One of the victims, who wants to remain anonymous, said her car window was shot out. It was parked near her home at Post Oak Station apartments.

Neighbors said the bullets came flying from another side of their neighborhood. Police said there was a fight earlier that day, but they aren’t sure if it had anything to do with the gunfire.

The recent shooting has several neighbors fed up with violence that they say, happens often.

A young girl said she thought her mom was dead when she heard the gunshots Wednesday night. She said she didn’t hear her mom’s voice at all and became afraid. Her mother said she was fine. She said she was on the phone with her son, who was inside a store near the shooting scene.

The young girl said she hears gunshots at least three times a month. Several parents in the area said they’re prepared when shots are fired. Many have a plan of action: they run somewhere safe, usually an upper room inside their homes.

Police said they patrol the area regularly and haven’t made any arrests yet.
