Nifty Pharma rises; Lupin, Dr Reddy’s top gainers

NEW DELHI: While realty, auto and bank stocks were reeling under selling pressure, most of the pharma stocks were gaining as Nifty Pharma index was trading 43 points, or 0.50 per cent, up at 8,533 at around 11.40 am (IST) in Tuesday’s trade.

Lupin (up 1.88 per cent), Dr Reddy’s (up 1.79 per cent), Divi’s Laboratories (up 1.13 per cent), Sun Pharma (up 0.96 per cent) and Aurobindo Pharma (up 0.57 per cent) were the top gainers in the index.

However, Piramal Enterprises (down 1.80 per cent), Cadila Healthcare (down 0.83 per cent) and GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals (down 0.73 per cent) were trading in red around that time.

Benchmark indices traded in the positive zone, with Nifty50 hovering around psychologically important 9,800-mark. Sensex traded above 31,300 level.

Nifty50 was 32 points up at 9,786, while Sensex was 100 points higher at 31,358 around 11.40 am (IST).

Besides pharma stocks, metal and IT stocks were also doing well. Hindalco, Tata Motors, Coal India, HCL Technologies were the gainers in the Nifty chart.

Indiabulls Housing Finance, Hero MotoCorp, Power Grid, YES Bank, Asian paint and Bank of Baroda were at the bottom in the Nifty50 index.

In the Nifty50 pack, 35 stocks were trading in green, while 15 stocks were in red.

On BSE, 902 stocks were advancing whereas 1,331 stocks were lagging.
