North west children risk going hungry over the summer holidays | Granada

Some children in the north west are at risk of going hungry over the summer holidays, which for many began today.

Charities say youngsters who get free school meals in term-time, are returning in September thinner and hungry, because there’s no help to feed them during the break.

The government says it’s helping millions of households meet the cost of living, and budgeting advice is available.
