A man reported to be in in the middle of Interstate 95 waving his hands was struck by two cars and killed early Sunday morning, according to State Police.
Around 3:35 a.m., several motorists called to report the man in the middle of the highway near Exit 34 in Burlington, according to a statement from State Police. The driver of a Volvo sedan then called and said he had struck a pedestrian there.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Burlington police, the statement said. The crash is under investigation.
A Volvo sedan operated by a 39-year-old Malden man appears to have first struck the pedestrian, who was in Interstate 95’s second travel lane, according to the statement. A Toyota Matrix station wagon driven by a 22-year-old man from Brookline, N.H., then hit the pedestrian, too.
The victim’s identity has not been determined, the statement said.
