Monthly pension payments will be paid early this week because of the lingering threat of Hurricane Jos.

Benefits paid via direct deposit will be available tomorrow, at HSBC at noon, and at BNTB at 9am. Pension cheques will be delivered by mail on Wednesday.

In a press release, the Department of Social Insurance said it took a precautionary measure to bring forward pension benefit payments from Friday, with Jos expected to pass within about 350 nautical miles of the island tomorrow.

David Burt, the Premier and Minister of Finance, stated: I wish to extend my thanks to the relevant government departments in their proactive approach to this matter.

While the potential threat of Hurricane Jos is diminishing, the Government places importance on ensuring that our seniors are able to access their payments early to allow for any necessary storm preparations.
