RIL, SBI most active stocks in terms of value

NEW DELHI: Shares of HDFC (Rs 163.50 crore), Tata Steel (Rs 127.16 crore), Axis Bank (Rs 114.18 crore), Reliance Industries (Rs 110.63 crore), Kotak Bank (Rs 107.85 crore), Maruti Suzuki (Rs 96.66 crore) and State Bank of India (Rs 82.44 crore) were among the most active stocks in terms of value on NSE in Wednesday’s morning trade session.

The pack was dominated by metal and bank stocks with shares of YES Bank (Rs 70.66 crore) Indiabulls Housing Finance (Rs 55.23 crore) and Vedanta (Rs 45.83 crore) also in the list.

After registering a positive start, markets turned volatile as selling in bank and pharma stocks played a damp squib to market sentiment.

In the Nifty50 index, Bank of Baroda (down 2.32 per cent), Larsen & Toubro (down 1.69 per cent), Coal India (down 1.41 per cent), ICICI Bank (down 1.32 per cent), State bank of India (down 1.28 per cent), Asian Paints (down 1.23 per cent), Reliance Industries (down 1.15 per cent) slipped over 1 per cent.

However, Tata Power (up 4.21 per cent), Tech Mahindra (up 1.91 per cent), HDFC (up 1.30 per cent), Indian Oil Corp (up 1.14 per cent), Hindustan Unilever (up 1.09 per cent) and ITC (up 1.09 per cent) were gaining.

FMCG, IT and auto stocks were catching buyers’ attention.

The Nifty50 index was trading 4 points lower at 9,790, while the 30-share Sensex was 4 points up at 31,453 around 10 am (IST).

In the Nifty50 pack, 22 stocks were trading in green, while 29 stocks were in red.

On BSE, 1,107 stocks were advancing whereas 710 stocks were lagging.
