SAN ANTONIO – One north San Antonio neighborhood is desperate for answers. Late Saturday night a home located along Rexford Drive was hit by a car. This was the second incident involving a car and this particular home, in a little more than a week.
“I don’t really feel safe here anymore,” said 18-year-old Edwen Sanabria.
Sanabria was getting ready for bed around 11:30 pm on Saturday, when a car went crashing through his bedroom. For a few seconds the college student estimates he was pinned between his mattress and bedroom door.
“It’s really traumatizing,” said Sanabria. “I can’t put it into words. The whole world came crashing down. My room just exploded, there was all of this insolation, just smoke everywhere.”
Miraculously Edwin escaped with what appears to be just scrapes and bruises. However, his room is destroyed.
“If I had been on this side, or messing with my TV, that could have been it,” said Sanabria.
One person, was detained for suspicions of driving drunk on Saturday. However, just 8 days earlier, another car went barreling through the family’s storage room.
“It must have been going really fast to get all of the way back there.”
Now, their home has 2 large holes on both sides. The family, along with nearby neighbors, are hopeful the city makes changes on the street in the area. A few people mentioned the possible addition of speed bumps, or blinking red lights.
“Until we fix something, or add some sort of protection here, I won’t feel safe sleeping here at night.”
