Sensex: Market Now: These stocks cracked over 8% today

NEW DELHI: Shares of Vaswani Industries (down 10 per cent), Prakash Constrowell (down 8.79 per cent) and IOL Chemicals (down 8.78 per cent) cracked over 8 per cent in Thursday’s trade on NSE, mirroring negative broader market sentiment.

TV Vision (down 7.76 per cent), KSK Energy Ventures (down 7.33 per cent), DQ Entertainment (down 7.08 per cent), Hind Rectifiers (down 6.98 per cent), PSL Ltd (down 6.93 per cent), (down 6.93 per cent), IVP Ltd (down 6.62 per cent), Oriental Trimex (down 6.45 per cent) and Pudumjee Industries (down 6.10 per cent) declined over 6 per cent.

Key equity benchmarks narrowed losses in the afternoon session as mild bouts of buying emerged in select IT and bank stocks.

However, the overall sentiment remained negative as barring pharma, other stocks failed to perform.

Nifty50 index was trading 33 points lower at 10,108, while the 30-share Sensex was 95 points down at 32,305 around 1.48 pm (IST).

ZEE Entertainment, ICICI Bank, GAIL, HCL Technologies and Bharti Infratel were top Nifty laggards.

Among the gainers, Dr Reddy’s dazzled, with gains of nearly 7 per cent.

Shares of Dr Reddy’s Laboratories jumped after the drug maker said that it has received an Establishment Inspection Report (EIR) from the USFDA for Unit II of its formulation facility at Srikakulam Plant (SEZ), Andhra Pradesh.

Cipla, Sun Pharma, Lupin and Tech Mahindra were the other top gainers in the Nifty50 index.

On the NSE, 546 stocks were advancing, compared with 1084 stocks declining and 330 stocks remaining unchanged.

On BSE, 873 stocks were advancing whereas 1,578 stocks were lagging and 139 stocks were appearing unchanged.
