The holiday tips and tricks that your trip away has been missing

Holidays are a great time, being able to put the pains and worries of the world behind us and just have some fun.

But there is always little things that may get in the way of you having the optimal amount of fun, and you don’t even realise it.

This is where our colleagues at the Manchester Evening News come in.

They have compiled a list of top holidays tips, that you won’t believe you didn’t already think about.

Always take a bottle of baby powder or talc with you. When the kids are coming off the beach with sand stuck all over their damp legs, simply rub a bit of talc over them and the sand simply falls away.

Talc powder is ideal for getting that pesky sand off your hands

Another way of keeping the sand off is to buy a small inflatable pool for your little one to splash about in on the sand. A dinghy or something similar would do the job too.

The water will warm up in no time and they can splash and have fun with a few toys right next to your towels or sunbeds.

If you want a bigger space off the sand for the family to rest and play in then take a fitted sheet to the beach.

Get something big enough to hold it out in each corner, such as a cool box, or a bag full of towels and you’ll have your own sand-free space to step inside.

If it’s the messy ice cream that bothers you more than the sand then take a leaf out of mum Nicole Wood’s book.

The mum-of-one, from Ashton, shared this photo of her son Edward, two, eating an ice lolly with the caption: “I feel like a genius!! Poked a hole in an ice cream tub and stuck Edward’s ice cream stick through it!! Saved us from the dripping mess!!!”

Her post was liked by almost 200 mums who praised her ‘brill idea’.

One said: “Oh my god, I feel like you have just saved me literally hundreds of £ in baby wipes. This is definitely genius.”

Another added: “This is the most amazing idea I’ve ever seen!!”

And if you can’t get hold of an ice cream tub, we’ve heard cupcake cases to the job too.

Finally, if you’re worrying what to do with your money while you take the kids in the sea then fear not.

You could roll it up and put it inside an empty lip balm tube.

Or to really make sure nobody runs off with your cash then simply tuck it inside a nappy and fold the nappy up as though it’s been used. If that doesn’t keep it safe then nothing will.
