Congestion remains heavy on a highway outside Christchurch Airport after a three-car crash.
The crash at the intersection of Memorial Ave and Russley Rd happened about 4.30pm.
The scene was cleared by 6.30pm and traffic was expected to be free-flowing by 7pm.
“It looks like one [of the three cars] has gone through a red light,” a police spokesman said.
Northbound traffic was down to one lane for about two hours and traffic was down to two lanes under the new bridge.
Almost two hours after the crash, a CTOC spokesman said the travel time between Hornby and the airport had doubled from its usual 12 minutes to 30 minutes.
A St John spokesman said one person was assessed and treated at the scene.
