Another accident has occurred at an intersection in Wairarapa that has concerned locals for many years.
A car turning into Cornwall Road off State Highway 2, at an intersection more commonly known as the Norfolk Road intersection, has collided with a southbound vehicle.
The occupants of both cars were removed from the vehicles with minor injuries, one was injured by an airbag and the other was being treated at the scene in an ambulance. The collision occurred about 9.30am on September 22 with traffic diversions in place.
Senior constable Harvey Pope said the intersection saw a lot of crashes and that it probably needed a roundabout.
* Wairarapa wonders when intersections will be fixed
“It seems like there is a crash here every other week.”
Carterton mayor John Booth said something needed to be done and this was further evidence of that.
“We are in good discussions with NZTA over getting something done about this intersection so it is definitely on the radar.”
