WASPI women continue campaign at Ayrshire College conference (From Cumnock Chronicle)

MORE than 20 women were given a helping hand to protest against pension age changes.

Members of the Ayrshire Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) group were in attendance at Ayrshire College’s conference held last week.

They set up at the event to help 1950s born women who want to raise a complaint against the Department of Work and Pensions and their plans to increase the state pension age.

The group provided 22 women with the template letters required to begin their complaint process.

Membership of Ayrshire WASPI is growing daily and at the previous meeting held in August at the Kilmarnock Railway Station the room was filled to capacity.

Next meeting at the venue is on Saturday, September 9, between 10am and noon.

The cost is £3 to cover refreshments and room hire.

New members are most welcome to join us on the day — e-mail ayrshirewaspi@gmail.com for more details.
