It may seem a little early to start thinking about Christmas.
But, where families are concerned it never fails to get planning early when you got a long list of presents to buy for, and, of course, there’s always lots of people to cater for over the festive period too.
So what dates can we look forward to much needed, quality time with the family? We’ve got all the dates you need for your diaries right here.
Schools in Coventry will finish for the Christmas holiday on Thursday December 21, with Warwickshire schools carrying on for an additional day until Friday December 22.
Both authorities see the first term of 2018 kick-off on Monday January 8.
Warwickshire has allocated Friday January 5 as a teacher training day.
Coventry City Council’s website states: “During the 2017/18 academic year a total of 195 days are defined as ‘school days.’
“Pupils must attend school for 190 days and the remaining five days are reserved for professional training of school staff.
“One of these days is set by the local authority on Monday September 4 2017.
“The remaining four are set at each school individually so please contact your school to find out when these dates are.”
Coventry also signposts parents to rules on taking holiday from school during term time.
It states: “It is important to talk to the headteacher or class teacher before a decision to take leave is made.
“The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006 as amended by Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2013 no longer permit headteachers to authorise leave for holidays.
“Headteachers may grant leave of absence in exceptional circumstances.
“If the exceptional circumstances are agreed, the headteacher will determine the length of the absence authorised.
“Parents may be breaking the law if their children take leave without permission.”
