Wipro: Market Now: Nifty IT breaks 3-day winning run; Wipro cracks over 4%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index broke its three-session winning run to trade as the biggest sectoral laggard on NSE in Thursday’s trade.

The index was trading at 10,464, down 0.39 per cent, around 12.40 pm (IST), with shares of Wipro (down 4.24 per cent), KPIT Technologies (down 0.74 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services (down 0.54 per cent) and Tech Mahindra (down 0.23 per cent) as the losers.

However, shares of MindTree (up 2.73 per cent), Infosys (up 0.93 per cent), Just Dial (up 0.68 per cent), HCL Technologies (up 0.63 per cent) and Tata Elxsi (up 0.51 per cent) were gaining around that time.

Besides IT, FMCG, auto and realty indices too fell by up to 0.20 per cent.

Nifty Pharma, however, continued its rally. The Nifty Pharma index was trading 2.05 per cent up at 9,328, with shares of Piramal Enterprises and Divi’s Lab surging over 4 per cent.

In the Nifty pack, Axis Bank, Sun Pharma, Cipla, Dr Reddy’s, Aurobindo Pharma, Adani Ports, Lupin and Indian Oil Corporation were the top gainers.

Wipro, Gail, Eicher Motors, Bharat Petroleum, Zee Entertainment and Mahindra & Mahindra were at the bottom of the index.

Benchmark Nifty was trading below 10,100-mark on selling in auto, IT and FMCG counters. Sensex too declined and was hovering around 32,200 level.

In the Nifty50 pack, 24 stocks were trading in the green, while 25 stocks were in red.

On BSE, 1,266 stocks were advancing whereas 1,172 stocks were lagging.
