Card issues: Butterfield customers were experienced issues making purchases with debit cards today (File photograph)
Butterfield Bank said this morning that it has resolved issues that were yesterday causing difficulties for customers in making payments with debit cards.
“We are pleased to advise that the issue affecting point-of-sale debit card purchases has been resolved overnight by our team in collaboration with our vendors,” Butterfield said in a statement.
“All Butterfield cards are now operating as normal.
“We sincerely apologise for the interruption to debit card services experienced yesterday. We recognise that clients depend on these services every day, and we understand the inconvenience and disruption that this outage may have caused.
“We take service availability extremely seriously and are undertaking a comprehensive review of the incident as we work to strengthen the resilience of our systems and reduce the risk of future disruptions.
“We are grateful to our clients for their patience while service was restored.”
