AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Downtown Austin Rapid Response Team Unit is requesting assistance in identifying a suspect reportedly involved in a theft and credit card abuse case.
The suspect is described as a black male or female between the ages of 20 and 35, with a tattoo on their upper arm of a basketball with a “C” on it, balanced on a finger
The case originated in the downtown Austin area at 100 W 5th St. and 13000 N IH-35 on March 1. Officials stated that this suspect and case are both linked to an ongoing series of thefts in Austin’s downtown entertainment district. This case is said to be one of 14 confirmed cases linked to the same suspects.

The suspects in these ongoing thefts seem to be targeting men leaving downtown bars, as well as some in the Warehouse District, between midnight to 2:30 a.m.
The suspects may be known to engage in conversation with the victims and are also suspected of using friendly topics before committing the thefts.
Officials stated that these suspects then reportedly commit fraudulent criminal activities involving victims’ digital banking accounts accessed through the stolen cell phone.
Anyone with information can submit a tip anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.
