Motive Partners has appointed Jennifer Nason as an Industry Partner, adding a veteran investment banking executive to strengthen the firm’s advisory capabilities as it continues investing in financial technology and technology-enabled business services companies.
Nason will work closely with Motive’s investment professionals and portfolio company leadership teams, providing strategic guidance on growth initiatives, corporate development, capital markets, governance and enterprise transformation. Her appointment reinforces the firm’s investor-operator-innovator (IOI) model, which combines investment capital with operational expertise and industry relationships to support portfolio company growth.
The addition comes as financial services firms continue to invest in artificial intelligence, data infrastructure and digital transformation, creating new opportunities for technology providers serving the banking, payments, insurance and capital markets sectors.
Nason brings more than 40 years of experience in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and strategic advisory services. She joins Motive following a nearly four-decade career at J.P. Morgan, where she most recently served as Global Chair of Investment Banking.
In that role, she advised chief executives and corporate boards on some of the firm’s largest global client relationships, supporting strategic transactions and corporate initiatives across the technology, media, telecommunications and financial services industries. She also established J.P. Morgan’s first IT Business Development Group, working with the firm’s technology leadership on strategic technology initiatives and artificial intelligence programs while strengthening relationships across the innovation ecosystem.
Founder and Managing Partner Rob Heyvaert said Nason’s experience advising organizations through periods of transformation, growth and market disruption further strengthens Motive’s ability to support portfolio companies operating in a rapidly evolving financial services landscape. He added that her appointment reflects the firm’s strategy of combining deep sector expertise with operational execution as financial institutions increasingly modernize technology infrastructure and adopt AI-driven solutions.
Following her retirement from J.P. Morgan, Nason became an independent corporate advisor and board director. She currently serves on the boards of Accenture, Rio Tinto, Dodge & Cox and goop Kitchen, bringing additional experience in corporate governance, audit, compensation, sustainability, nominations and investment committee oversight.
Throughout her career, Nason has advised companies on large-scale mergers and acquisitions, shareholder activism, operational transformation and long-term corporate strategy. Motive said her experience working with senior executives and public company boards will provide valuable insight to portfolio companies as they scale operations, pursue strategic growth opportunities and navigate changing market conditions.
Nason said financial services is undergoing a significant transformation driven by advances in artificial intelligence, data and modern technology platforms. She said Motive’s combination of sector specialization, operational expertise and connectivity across the financial services ecosystem positions the firm to help portfolio companies accelerate innovation and long-term growth.
Her appointment expands Motive’s network of Industry Partners, which includes senior executives, operators and investors across financial services and technology. The firm said the continued growth of the network reflects its belief that long-term value creation increasingly depends on pairing investment capital with operational expertise, strategic relationships and deep industry knowledge.
Headquartered with offices in New York, London and Berlin, Motive Partners is a private investment firm focused exclusively on financial technology and technology-enabled business services. The firm invests across banking and payments, capital markets, data and analytics, insurance, and wealth and asset management, supporting companies from early-stage venture investments through growth equity and buyout transactions.
