The approval allows Coinbase to arrange investment deals and provide custody services as it prepares to launch tokenised securities in the UAE. The digital securities will be backed by underlying shares and issued under ADGM”s regulatory framework.
Coinbase has received a Financial Services Permission (FSP) from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) , clearing the cryptocurrency exchange to establish an international tokenisation hub in Abu Dhabi.
The approval allows Coinbase to arrange investment deals and provide custody services as it prepares to launch tokenised securities in the UAE. The digital securities will be backed by underlying shares and issued under ADGM’s regulatory framework.
Coinbase said the initiative aims to make capital-market participation more accessible through blockchain-based infrastructure, allowing investors to access tokenised securities through digital wallets while maintaining regulatory safeguards, including sanctions screening.
Brett Tejpaul, Co-CEO of Coinbase Institutional, said ADGM’s early development of virtual-asset regulation made it a strong base for the company’s tokenisation plans.
The move forms part of Coinbase’s broader UAE expansion, with Abu Dhabi positioned as its hub for tokenised securities and onchain capital markets, while Dubai will support its global derivatives operations.
