Stray Kids continue to assert a near-unrivaled popularity among K-pop acts in America. The boy band earns another certified album in the U.S., increasing a career total that places the group far ahead of almost every other musical act to come from South Korea when it comes to the special awards.

Maxident has been certified gold by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). That means that the set has moved at least half a million units in the U.S. alone, between pure purchases and streaming equivalents.

Stray Kids have now seen four collections earn some certification from the organization. All of them are gold records, as none of the band’s projects have yet moved on to platinum status, which kicks in when a title hits one million units moved.

Maxident dropped in October 2022, so the EP needed a little more than two years to rack up half a million units. The set debuted atop the Billboard 200, giving Stray Kids a second consecutive leader on the most important albums tally in America.

Stray Kids first earned a gold record in October 2023, when 5-Star reached the milestone, helping the vocal troupe make history. Since then, Rock-Star and Ate have also collected the same honor, with both doing so in 2024.

Maxident required more than two full years to go gold, but Stray Kids have been shortening the length of time a project needs before it collects the prize. Ate, the band’s most recent gold smash before this week, was released in July 2024, and by October the RIAA had already certified it as having moved the necessary 500,000 units.

Stray Kids have also collected just as many gold-certified singles in the U.S. “God’s Menu,” “Maniac,” “Back Door,” and “Thunderous” have all snagged shiny plaques, with the latter three doing so just last year.

Among K-pop groups, only BTS has performed better, according to the RIAA. The septet has thus far seen three albums–Love Yourself: Answer, Map of the Soul: 7, and Be–go platinum. Map of the Soul: Persona is steady as a gold win for the band.
