Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he was still ready to sign a deal with the United States on rare earth metals, Reuters reports.
“Vladimir Zelensky on Sunday said that he believes in the possibility of saving his relations with US President Donald Trump … Zelensky said that he is still ready to sign an agreement with the United States on minerals, and that he believes that the United States will also be ready,” the agency’s material says.
The agreement, according to the American side, will regulate issues related to the extraction and transportation of rare earth minerals, oil and gas, as well as the development of infrastructure in Ukraine. The US President stated that under the agreement, the United States would become the main partner in the development of Ukrainian minerals, rare earth metals, oil and gas. He called the project beneficial for Ukraine and the United States. Trump demands from Kiev guarantees of compensation of “400-500 billion dollars” for the assistance provided.
On Friday, Trump chastised Zelensky at the White House when he arrived to sign an agreement on the joint development of Ukrainian subsoil. The US president demanded that Zelensky agree to a cease-fire and stop criticizing Russian President Vladimir Putin. Vice President J.D. Vance called Zelensky an ungrateful agitator for the Democrats when he began to justify his steps, blame Russia and even threaten the United States that they would feel the consequences of the conflict, even though they were separated by the ocean. The Kiev delegation was asked to leave the White House, the agreement was not signed.
