When you’re looking for your next credit card, you may want to wait until you can take advantage of a valuable welcome bonus. Not every rewards credit card offers a welcome bonus (or a limited-time increased bonus), but for the ones that do, you can earn hundreds of dollars in additional value by applying at the right time (and then meeting the spending requirements).
Below, CNBC Select has highlighted some of the best welcome bonuses that will be ending soon. This list doesn’t feature every limited-time credit card welcome bonus. Instead, we’ve highlighted bonuses that provide the most value compared to the standard offer or more value than comparable rewards credit cards.

New limited-time welcome bonus: With a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, new cardholders can earn 100,000 bonus points after they spend $5,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.
Previous welcome bonus: Earn 60,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.
CNBC Select’s take: This is one of the best travel credit cards for just about anyone, regardless of where you want to go or how you like to travel. This welcome bonus matches the highest bonus point offer we’ve ever seen for this card — which was last offered in 2021. If you’re considering opening a new credit card, this should be the first one you look at.
Pro tip: You can pair this card with a Chase bank account

With over 4,700 branches, Chase has the largest branch network in the U.S. plus access to more than 15,000 ATMs.

New limited-time welcome bonus: New cardholders opening a Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card can receive $250 in Capital One Travel credits to use in their first cardholder year, plus 75,000 bonus miles once they spend $4,000 on purchases within the first three months from account opening
Previous welcome bonus: Earn 75,000 bonus miles once you spend $4,000 on purchases within the first three months from account opening.
CNBC Select’s take: The Capital One Venture and Chase Sapphire Preferred cards are always fighting each other for the top spot on best beginner and mid-tier travel card lists. If you’ve been wanting to grab this card, now is the time because you’re getting an extra $250 in value. However, the travel credit is only good for the first year, and it’s not as valuable — or flexible — as an equivalent number of miles (25,000), so the Sapphire Preferred will be better for most people. The Venture Rewards Card is a good option if you don’t qualify for the Sapphire Preferred’s welcome bonus or you can’t meet its higher $5,000 spending requirement.

You can earn one or both of these offers. Offer ends 6/30/25.
- The American Express Global Lounge Collection® can provide an escape at the airport. With complimentary access to more than 1,400 airport lounges across 140 countries and counting, you have more airport lounge options than any other credit card issuer on the market as of 10/2024.

New limited-time welcome bonus: Through June 30, 2025, you can earn 150,000 Membership Rewards® points after spending $20,000 in eligible purchases on your Amex Business Platinum Card within the first three months of card membership. On top of that, you can earn a $500 statement credit after spending $2,500 on qualifying flights booked directly with airlines or through American Express Travel with your card within the first three months of card membership.
Previous welcome bonus: Earn 150,000 bonus points after spending $20,000 in eligible purchases on the card within the first three months of card membership.
CNBC Select’s take: The Business Platinum Card® from American Express is one of the top business travel cards because it’s loaded with travel perks and earns Amex Membership Rewards points. The biggest question for any business owner is whether the Amex Business Platinum Card is worth the annual fee, which is one of the highest at $695 (see rates and fees). The card provides more than enough value to justify its cost, however, many of its benefits are complicated. Most of the statement credits are earned monthly or quarterly or only apply to specific purchases.
This offer gives you a chance to more easily offset a big chunk of the card’s annual fee. You’re essentially receiving a rebate of up to 20% on eligible airfare, which dramatically reduces the upfront cost of getting this card.
Pro tip: You can pair this card with an Amex bank account

FAQs
Does the annual fee count toward the minimum spending requirement?
Typically, fees and interest charges do not count toward meeting your credit card’s minimum spending requirement. This includes the annual fee.
When does the clock start on meeting the minimum spending requirement?
The timeframe you have to meet a credit card’s minimum spending requirement and earn its welcome bonus starts when you are approved for the card. That means if your card doesn’t offer instant access, you’ll have less time than you think to work on the spending requirement because it can take a week or two to receive your card in the mail.
When will the bonus rewards show up in my account?
Your welcome bonus rewards typically post to your account after the close of the billing cycle where you met the minimum spending. If you meet your spending requirement on the 5th day of the month and your statement closes on the 25th day of the month, you most likely won’t receive your rewards until after the 25th.
