
The World Bank has praised Azerbaijan’s reforms in monitoring state-owned enterprises and expressed readiness to provide technical support in this area, Serdar Yilmaz, manager of the World Bank’s Public Finance and Procurement Management Department, said during a meeting with Anar Karimov, Azerbaijan’s first deputy minister of finance.
Report informs, citing the Ministry of Finance, that Stephanie Stahlmeister, the World Bank country manager for Azerbaijan, also attended the meeting.
Officials discussed prospects for expanding cooperation between the Azerbaijani government and the World Bank, particularly in public finance management. Karimov emphasized the country’s commitment to the partnership, noting it supports improvements in the governance of state finances.
He added that reforms in monitoring state-owned enterprises aim to enhance transparency and accountability. The meeting also covered potential World Bank technical assistance projects, the role of the Agency for Monitoring State-Owned Enterprises, and the importance of experience sharing.
