Jersey’s Evan Campbell has won shot put gold for Jersey at the 2025 Island Games.
Campbell threw a distance of 14.29m to finish 0.29m ahead of Orkney’s Calum Elder and while Saaremaa’s Rauno Liitmae won bronze with a throw of 12.87.
It was an upgrade on the bronze medal that Campbell won in the event two years ago in Guernsey.
“As there’s been no discus at these games that cuts out a few of the throws as a lot of people come over and do the discus and the shot put,” Campbell told BBC Radio Jersey.
“I think my throw today would have been bronze again in Guernsey, so it was a bit of an easier field.
“But I still had to step up and handle the pressure.”
It came as Jersey’s George Rice won silver in the 10,000m.
Rice was the best of the rest as Isle of Man’s Corrin Leeming set a new Island Games record of 29:56.11 with Rice finishing more than two minutes later.
