‘Football is more than 90 minutes’
A fundraising campaign has been launched to help Sheffield Wednesday fans facing financial hardship attend matches.
The initiative has been created by the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust, with the help of the club itself, following feedback from fans who wished to donate season tickets or smaller amounts of money to fellow supporters who might not otherwise be able to go.
The fund will be used to buy season tickets, individual match tickets, mascot packages and replica shirts.
Recipients of season tickets will be identified through a nomination process, with further details to be announced. Match tickets will be aimed at first-time attendees, young supporters and those facing financial hardship. Any remaining funds will be used to provide mascot experiences and Wednesday shirts for children.
“The response to this initiative so far has been absolutely incredible and once again shows exactly what this fanbase is all about,” the trust said. “No donation is too small. Every contribution has the potential to make a genuine difference to somebody’s connection with Sheffield Wednesday.
“Football is more than ninety minutes. For many of us, Sheffield Wednesday is family, friendship, belonging and a lifelong connection to our city and community.
“Working in partnership with Sheffield Wednesday, this fund will help ensure that as many people as possible can experience the joy of supporting our football club, regardless of their circumstances. “
More than 17,000 season tickets have already been sold for the 2026/2027 campaign as Wednesday aim to bounce back to the Championship at the first attempt after relegation. Supporters are feeling more optimistic about the future of their club for many years following the takeover by David Storch and Arise Capital Partners.
