Katy Perry appeared to take a leaf from Zendaya’s Dune style book as she embraced a sci-fi aesthetic on Saturday. While attending the 11th Breakthrough Prize Ceremony at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar on April 5, the “Dark Horse” singer paid homage to the event’s innovations theme as well as her own galactic aspirations in a silver naked dress with giant cutouts.

Perry nailed the sultry cyborg style memo in the Gaurav Gupta design from the brand’s Spring 2024 Couture collection. The silver sequined dress featured a reflective, disco ball-inspired fabric held together by sheer mesh panels that bared most of Perry’s torso. As she posed on the red carpet, the “Firework” singer showed off asymmetric boob cutouts that flashed her entire left side and plunged all the way down her stomach to her right hip. 

Styled with a matching headpiece that wrapped around her hair and neck, the sparkly dress also brought the drama as Perry turned around. She showed off a large back cutout that bared her entire back except for a strip of fabric running down the middle. In contrast to the barely-there design of her bodice, Perry’s Gaurav Gupta dress’s floor-length skirt was completely covered in silver sequins.

While Perry’s dress appeared to pay homage to the future–perhaps a reference to her upcoming all-female flight to space alongside Lauren Sánchez, Gayle King, Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyen, and Kerianne Flynn–she took inspiration from the past with her beauty look. The singer styled her dark hair in a retro 1920s-inspired style with a curled fringe peeping out from underneath her silver cap. Silver metallic eyeshadow, a mauve lipstick, and sculpted cheeks finished off Perry’s ethereal appearance.
