BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. (WSBT) — In an effort to keep the peace at Silver Beach, the Berrien County Board of Commissioners approved new rules that make it easier for police to maintain order at the beach.
It comes after three fights this summer have shut down Silver Beach early.

Our newsgathering partners at WSJM Radio said fines for alcohol and marijuana on the beach have been increased.
The new rules also allow the sheriff’s department to ban people who violate park rules for a full year.
The rule changes take effect next Friday.
