Step aside Kurt Angle, another Olympic gold medalist has now made their WWE in-ring debut.

Former Olympian Tamyra Mensah-Stock wrestled her first ever pro-wrestling match this weekend, during Saturday’s (March 30) NXT house show in Melbourne, Florida.

Mensah-Stock faced off against Breanna Covington in singles action, per reports.

Mensah-Stock made history at the Tokyo Summer Olympics in 2021 when she became the first black woman to win an Olympic gold medal in Freestyle Wrestling.

She appeared for WWE at SummerSlam 2021 alongside fellow Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson, before signing with WWE in May 2023.

Mensah-Stock is the third Olympic gold medalist to sign with WWE, following Hall of Famer Kurt Angle, and NXT’s Gable Steveson.

WWE has signed several other former Olympians, with Raw star Chad Gable competing in the 2012 London Summer Olympics ahead of joining WWE in November 2013.

Plans for Tamyra Mensah-Stock’s pro-wrestling future are currently unclear. Tamyra took to Twitter in January to note that she was unsure about how close she was to an NXT TV debut, but assured fans that the current roster isn’t ready for her.
