Florida-based Silver Airways abruptly announced that it is ceasing all of its flight operations on Wednesday as part of its attempt to restructure in bankruptcy.
All of the airline’s upcoming flights have been canceled, and it urged customers not to go to the airport in a post on Instagram Wednesday night.
“We regret to inform you that we are ceasing operations as of today, June 11, 2025. In an attempt to restructure in bankruptcy, Silver entered into a transaction to sell its assets to another airline holding company, who unfortunately has determined to not continue Silver’s flight operations in Florida, the Bahamas and the Caribbean,” the company wrote in the post.
“Please do not go to the airport. All credit card purchases should be refundable through your credit card company or your travel agency. ”
The regional South Florida airline filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December. It pledged to continue normal operations as it worked through a restructuring but began canceling flights in March.
Who is Silver Airways?
Silver Airways is a regional airline based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, that flew approximately 52 daily flights to destinations in Florida, the Bahamas and the Caribbean.
Silver Airways bankruptcy
Silver Airways voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Dec. 30, 2024, and anticipated going through a restructuring that would set the airline up to recover by the first quarter of this year.
At the time, Silver Airways promised that all tickets remained valid and that it would continue flight operations as normal, including allowing customers to book future flights.
Silver Airways began canceling flights in March
In early March, Silver Airways abruptly canceled all flights in and out of the Orlando International Airport. Customers who were impacted by the cancellations received refunds.
The airline’s route between Puerto Rico’s San Juan (SJU) and Dominica’s Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM) was reportedly canceled in mid-March, according to a local U.S. Virgin Islands newspaper.

Silver Airways employees weren’t notified about the airline ceasing operations until late Tuesday, according to reporting from the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
About 350 of the airline’s remaining employees received word of the news through an email sent out late Tuesday.
