U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday that he wants to sign an agreement with the Ukrainian government under which Kyiv would receive American aid in exchange for rare earth metals, according to AFP.
“We’re looking to do a deal with Ukraine, where they’re going to secure what we’re giving them with their rare earths and other things,” he reportedly told a group of journalists at the White House.
During the same exchange, Trump also said that Washington had “made a lot of progress on Russia–Ukraine,” according to Alex Raufoglu, though the president did not provide further details.
