The two Concacaf giants are in action in the Gold Cup this evening, as both the United States and Mexico look to build confidence before the knockout rounds.
Here is what has gone down so far.
Scorers: Tillman 10′, Agyemang 75′ ; Deedson 19′
The Americans took the lead inside ten minutes as Malik Tillman lost his defender at the back-post and scored a well-placed header off of Brenden Aaronson’s cross.
Haiti were gifted an equaliser after USA goalkeeper Matt Freese played a poor one-touch pass directly to Louicius Don Deedson who curled the ball into the bottom-left corner.
Both teams continued to create chances throughout the first-half with the Americans taking eight shots to Haiti’s five.
In the second-half, the Americans had a goal ruled for handball, and another for offside.
But they eventually took the lead as John Tolkin’s long ball found Patrick Agyemang who took a touch around the keeper and finished into an empty net.
Ultimately, after three straight wins, Mauricio Pochettino’s young squad move on to the Gold Cup quarter-finals as group winners. They will face the loser of the Mexico vs Costa Rica match.
