If you play your cards right, you can score big travel benefits when using credit cards for any kind of purchases.

Credit cards can deliver excellent value by leveraging their loyalty programs and using the right card for the right purchase to maximize the earning potential. You can then redeem miles and points for free travel, or in some cases, swap points between other members or loyalty programs. These are some of the cards making notable moves or launching some benefit changes to start the new year.
Chase And DoorDash Boost Monthly Credits
DoorDash credits are one of the benefits for the Chase Sapphire credit cards.

Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders now receive a $5 monthly restaurant order credit. This is in addition to the two $10 monthly credits for grocery or retail orders. Chase Sapphire Preferred members only get one of these (and no monthly restaurant credit). A new perk is that these can now be combined with other Chase offers. Any Sapphire cardholder can activate a free DashPass membership through Dec. 31, 2027. These credits, if used regularly, are just one of the ways to dwindle down the cost of the annual fee.

Score A Bonus When Transferring Credit Card Points

Cardholders with Chase Ultimate Rewards points can transfer them to Virgin Atlantic between now and Feb 17 with a 30% bonus. This means that for every one Chase Ultimate Reward point you move to Virgin, you will receive 1.3 Virgin miles. The latter can be redeemed for any SkyTeam airline as well as several partners.
Some of the best Virgin Atlantic redemptions can be some of their short-haul awards for economy class on Air France-KLM (around 4,500 points in each direction in economy or usually double that amount in business class). Another offer includes moving American Express Membership Rewards points to Avianca LifeMiles any time this month for a 15% bonus.
Major Delta Sky Club Access Rule Changes

American Express cardholders now must navigate new rules to access Delta Sky Clubs, part of the airline’s efforts to deal with overcrowding. This includes a limited number of visits (typically between 10-15 times each year) depending on the card you hold. These changes affect everyone from those with The Platinum Card from American Express to the Delta’s own Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express Card.
There is a magic wand though to erase these limits, but it requires spending at least $75,000 on certain cards within the calendar year. This will unlock an unlimited number of visits. If you do reach your annual visit limit (and for someone that flies at least five roundtrips a year, that’s easy to do), it is possible to pay a fee to enter (something those without a credit card cannot do). Another workaround, although cumbersome, is to acquire more than one Delta co-branded credit card that comes with lounge access because these would stack, allowing for extra visits each year.

The new JetBlue Premier World Mastercard adds a world of extra perks to its benefits roster, which differentiates it from the standard JetBlue credit card currently on the market. While the card has some perks that are yet to materialize (like access to the airline’s yet-to-open lounge network that will only be in New York JFK by late 2025 and Boston after that), it also includes immediate benefits like free checked bags, priority boarding and bonus miles.
All of the latter amenities already come with the existing card. Aside from a slew of bonus miles for signing up, the card also comes with Priority Pass membership, Paisly statement credits for travel purchases made through that program, TSA PreCheck or Global Entry credits, and a 5,000-mile cardmember anniversary bonus
