Bhojpuri actor Dilip Kumar Sahu has been arrested.
Bhojpuri actor and YouTuber Dilip Kumar Sahu has been arrested in connection with a credit card fraud case totalling Rs 3.5 lakh, following a complaint filed by a Mumbai-based BEST driver. The arrest was made by the Dahisar Cyber Police, who later revealed that the accused had allegedly been operating similar scams across other parts of Mumbai, including Kandivali and Goregaon, and also has cases filed against him in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh.
The arrest took place on June 28, when a police team tracked down the 41-year-old from Kaushambi in Uttar Pradesh and brought him to Mumbai on transit remand. He has now been placed under police custody until July 1, according to a report in Mid-Day.
The case began with a 44-year-old driver employed with BEST, who lives in Borivali, spotting a poster during his commute to Poisar Depot in Kandivali in May 2025. The poster read: “Credit Card Se Cash Lijiye”, and included a phone number. The driver saved the number and made contact on May 13. The man on the other end introduced himself as Dilip Kumar Sahu and promised to transfer cash in exchange for credit card swipes, charging just a 2.5 per cent commission.
Initially, the offer seemed legitimate. After sharing his credit card details, CVV, and OTP over WhatsApp, the victim received Rs 19,500 via Google Pay for a transaction of Rs 20,000. Encouraged, the driver again reached out on May 16, requesting Rs 3.5 lakh. He shared the details of two credit cards and the OTPs sent to him. However, this time, Rs 3,50,020 was deducted through multiple transactions, and no money was transferred back to the victim.
The victim was repeatedly assured by Sahu that the funds would be deposited in his savings account, but that never happened. “The victim then realised he had been scammed,” a Dahisar police official said.
He reported the fraud on the national cybercrime portal, and later approached the Dahisar Cyber Police. Under the guidance of senior Zone 12 officials, API Ankush Dandge and constable Shrikant Deshpande led the investigation that ultimately resulted in the arrest.
Further probe has revealed that Sahu has carried out similar frauds in other parts of Mumbai, and authorities in Kaushambi have also received complaints against him.
