Gillingham are alongside Northampton Town, Crawley Town and Newport County in eyeing Newcastle United midfielder Jamie Miley, as per Football Insider.
Gillingham and Newport County will be looking to find more success in League Two this season while Northampton Town and Crawley Town fight it out a level above in League One.
Further new additions are being eyed at all four clubs to further bolster their ranks before the window slams shut. EFL clubs have until 11pm on August 30th to get signings through the door.

With Premier League pre-season campaigns done, doors are opening for many top-flight loans, and Football League sides are lurking.
Now, it is claimed that one man on he radars of all of Gillingham, Northampton Town, Crawley Town and Newport County is Newcastle United’s Jamie Miley.
Football Insider claims all four EFL sides are showing interest in Miley.
The Magpies are willing to let him out with a first-team role unlikely for him this season. Formal offers are being planned for the 20-year-old, who is yet to make his senior debut.
But having impressed against some strong opposition in pre-season, Miley could be primed and ready to find success out on loan. One of Gillingham, Northampton Town, Crawley Town or Newport County will be hoping to be the beneficiaries of that.
The right move for Miley?
Newcastle United are no strangers to sending their young talents out on loan to EFL clubs, so with Miley impressing in pre-season and interest emerging, it seems to be best for the young midfielder that he heads away from the club for the season ahead.
It will now be down to the Magpies to decide whether to send him. Gillingham, Northampton Town, Crawley Town and Newport County will all be making their pitches to convince the Premier League side that they will be the best club for Miley’s development.
Game time at a lower level in League Two might come with a stronger guarantee given that the midfielder is yet to make his competitive debut. That could help Gillingham and Newport.
However, if the Premier League side believe he’s ready fort League One, Northampton and Crawley could be successful in their chase.
The weekend ahead
While it seems unlikely that any club will have Miley onboard before this weekend, it will be hoped a deal can be sanctioned sooner rather than later.
Gillingham are in action against Morecambe this weekend as Mark Bonner’s side travel to the north west. Their League Two rivals Newport County are at home to early title contenders Doncaster Rovers.
Meanwhile in League One, Northampton Town are at home to Exeter City and Crawley Town make the journey to Cambridge United.
