I am doubtful that my credit card was cloned (skimmed) during the first two attempts where all the card details including PIN number are stolen and a duplicate card is made.

BHPian MithunSathianat recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

I travelled from Kochi to Wayanad on 08 November 2024 in my vehicle and stopped at the fuel station around 11 AM for filling diesel. I will disclose the fuel station details later as it might impact the investigation if I disclose now.

I have given my credit card for swiping the amount of Rs.3249 incurred for diesel expenses. The staff inserted my card in to a machine and got an unusual error message in the machine where the transaction got failed after I entered the correct PIN. The staff again did the same where the card was kept inserted for some time and likewise the transaction got failed.
During both of these instances I did not get a payment declined message from the bank which is very unusual.
The staff then brought another machine and then the payment was successful.

I have lost an amount of Rs.1,03,580 through a POS physical transaction which was done by duplicate credit card on 16th November 12.50 AM. I was sleeping when this happened and saw the debit message morning. I immediately blocked the card and reported fraudulent transaction. The amount debited was in the form of 25000 Mexican Peso and the merchant name is Agencia ZT.

I am doubtful that my credit card was cloned (skimmed) during the first two attempts where all the card details including PIN number are stolen and a duplicate card is made.

I have raised cyber cell complaint and also a complaint with nearest police station.
