Pune: Member of Parliament Supriya Sule on Sunday demanded that the state govt give a loan waiver to farmers affected due to unseasonal and pre-monsoon rainfall in Baramati. She was speaking with reporters during her tour of her constituency.Sule said that, along with many areas in the state, villages in Baramati, Daund, Mulshi, and Indapur witnessed heavy rainfall last month when the monsoon set in early. “Farmers from these areas suffered huge losses. The state should consider a total waiver of farm loans and give them financial aid to rebuild their lives,” she added. On the unification of the two NCP factions, she said that it was not her individual decision but a party decision. “Whatever is in the minds of the party workers will happen. Any decision about this (reunion) will be finalised after taking all party workers into confidence. The last rung of the organisation will be consulted before a final call,” she added. On Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remarks that the state election in Maharashtra was rigged, Sule said that he has the right to express his views in a democracy.According to Sule, political workers cutting across party lines actively involved themselves in resolving the problems of rain-affected areas. The panchnama at the ground level was carried out to ascertain the losses and district administration officials were stationed in rain-affected areas.Sule said that the election at Malegaon sugar mill in Baramati on June 22 will not be fought on political lines. A panel of candidates is supported by their party for the larger interests of farmers. “The farmers’ issue will be the at the epicentre for these polls. We have always kept political agendas away during such polls,” she said.
