Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The EVMs kept in the strong room for the Aurangabad Lok Sabha constituency have been provided with a three-layered security, comprising Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) and the Maharashtra police. The strong room has been set up at Marathwada Institute of Technology off Beed bypass road. It is under CCTV surveillance and the footage is provided to the candidates.“One battalion of CAPF, involving 25 jawans and a commander, and one battalion of SRPF — involving 30 jawans and an officer — have been deployed for maintaining the security of the strong room. Also, one police inspector, two police sub-inspectors and 29 constables from the Maharashtra police are manning the strong room,” said Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district collector Deelip Swami. Swami, along with deputy collector Devendra Katake, paid a surprise visit to the strong room on Friday evening to ensure the security apparatus. The Aurangabad Lok Sabha seat witnessed 63.07% polling percentage on May 13. While votes will be counted on June 4, authorities said necessary preparations are also underway. “The staff has been undergoing necessary training to count the votes. The desired arrangements will also be in place for the counting day, which aligns with the instructions given by the Election Commission (EC),” the authorities said.
