A body has been found in Oxford as police cars and ambulances flocked to a residential street.

The incident happened as emergency vehicles headed down Abingdon Road, up Oswestery Road and onto Wytham Street in the south of the city shortly before 6pm last night (Tuesday, February 18).

From there around seven police cars and vans, two ambulances and one critical care incident vehicle responded to John Towle Close where there is residential housing.

Thames Valley Police have since announced that the body of man in his 30s was found inside one of the buildings following a fear for welfare call.

The force revealed that the death is currently being treated as unexplained but not suspicious.

A spokesperson for TVP on Wednesday (February 19) said: “Officers were called to an incident in John Towle Close at just before 6pm last night (February 18).

“Very sadly, a man aged in his 30s, was declared deceased at the scene.

“His death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

“The man’s next of kin have been made aware, and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this extremely difficult time.”

South Central Ambulance Service was also approached for comment by the Oxford Mail, but SCAS referred all requests to Thames Valley Police in this instance.
